Can someone please tell me if the Yamaha T118 is the same piano as the Yamaha U1.

I am considering purchasing the T-118 and was told by the Yamaha dealer that the T-118 is the same as the U1. Is this correct? I went into the yamaha website and could not find the U1 on the website listed as a T-118? Confused?

I don't think they're the same. Both pianos are build in different places (the T118 is made in China) - and they have very different sizes.

thank you copper. we purchased an american made a -henry f. miller from a reputable piano company in sf.
this professional series 47" upright had a much warmer sound sound as compared to the yamaha 5-118 and held a note longer. the henry f. miller as i understand is more for classical and jazz scales.

The Yamaha T118 is a great pianos about 47" high with nice touch and performance.
The U1 of course is 48" tall and more expensive, and it is the best selling upright piano of all time, I have heard. 1st choice U1 2nd choice T118PE.

Before read this post I never consider Peral river, yet google gives me sth more:
Pearl Rive bought German Ritmuller (said to be top 10 piano in Eu, built in 1795) in 1999. In 2004, it sold 3000+ Ritmuller and most are grand pianos.
It hires experts world wide: 野崎欣(Japan), Charles Corey(US),Lothar Thomma(German),David Campbell(US) etc. Pearl Rive now is world No.2 or No.1 in quantity. Market share is ~15% in US and EU.
